Michael Johnson Assault Case Resolved

Phoenix, AZ - Phoenix city councilman was handcuffed and pushed the ground March 19, 2010 by a Phoenix Police officer  Brian Authement, a 2 year member of  the police force.  In March, Johnson was attempting to help his neighbor with disabilities , whose house was on fire.  During this pre-dawn house fire, Johnson was given permission to render assistance by a fire department supervisor on the scene when this occurred.  Later two criminal investigations were launched.  One, charging Johnson with assaulting the police officer and the other by U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke into possible civil rights violations. It was announced on Friday that both cases have been resolved with no charges against Johnson or the police officer.  Burke announced Friday that Johnson and officer Authement have "resolved the matter and are committed to moving forward."

When asked what his main priority is for this term on the council, Johnson said, "to help the community". (See above video)
